My (very well known) colleague over at Garage in the US, Guy Kawasaki, launched Truemors earlier this year. I finally got around to checking out the site and have been hooked ever since.
According to Guy, Truemors is a Web 2.0, user-generated content, citizen journalism, long-tail, social media site. The interface is about as simple and effective as they come. I have to admit, after being on the site for a while, it is strangely addictive. I'm not usually the type to enjoy gossip and rumors, but this makes all of that watercooler talk so much more efficient. Plus, I have found things on Truemors that wouldn't have appeared on the media outlets I would normally frequent (WSJ, Engadget, Yahoo News, etc...).
The other upside to Truemors is that it provides a forum for people to post all of the news and comments that really don't belong on a blog (a little bit like Twitter but more interesting and informative - I care more about hearing the rumor that BlackBerry might be coming to China than about what someone ate for lunch).
How Truemors came to life is also interesting. You can read all about that on Guy's blog:

If you have an idea this good, and can do it for that kind of money, you're my new best friend, so send an e-mail to dawalibi@garagecanada.com.
